The afternoon concluded with a buffet and drinks.

Sunday 25th August was our Memorial Gala Day. A day for us to remember the clubs fellow bowlers who we have sadly lost over the years. A minutes silence was then followed by a fun filled day of Triples competition which was won by Jules Higgins, Rob Owen and Mark Amos the Chris Albon Cup was presented to them by members of the Albon family.

08.08.24

Friday 2nd August saw the club hold their 38th Open Triples Gala Day.

With all 24 places filled we had teams from many different clubs from around the county enjoying a great day of friendly but competitive bowling.

Lots of hard work to organise the day beforehand and a very busy day for many members saw the day run very smoothly, we had lots of positive feedback regarding the organisation, the food, the cakes, the friendliness of the club.

Well done everyone involved in making the day a great great success.

30.05.24

The weekend of 25th & 26th saw our club support the Bowls England Big Bowls weekend. Notice to all members

As of Sunday 14th April the green is officially open.

Please can all members be mindful for the first month that the green is still quite soft and delicate so please take care when delivering your woods to avoid damage to the surface.

Happy bowling, enjoy the season.

11.03.24

Notice to all members.

Sunday 7th April 2024 at 11.30am.

Work party required to open up the club ready for the 2024 season.

Lots of work has been carried out over the winter months by the green team and other members so let's all try and lend a hand to open our club ready for the new playing season.

10.10.23

Sunday 8th October saw the end of the 2023 season for the Club and the yearly ritual of putting the green to bed began.

Many members turned up to help with the chores, lots of work done on and around the green, chairs and benches put away, bushes chopped in the carpark, windows washed, kitchen, toilets and most areas of the clubhouse deep cleaned and tidied.

A big Thank You to all who took part and gave up their time, without your efforts ALL of our club members wouldn't be able to play and enjoy the game they love at such a great club with great facilities.

So the 2023 playing season is over but our green still needs to be looked after through the winter months and much work will still continue to be done by the Green Team, scarifying, seeding, fertilising etc etc, along with regular grass cutting and spiking.

Again this is hard work carried out by members in their own time and without them all of us would have nothing to play on next year. A massive thank you to the Green Team and the other guys who have helped so far, your hard work is very much appreciated, you have done a great job in this first year without TurfCare. WELL DONE EVERYONE.

04.09.23

Sunday 3rd September saw Stotfold Bowls Club host the BEDFORDSHIRE COUNTY LADIES BENEVOLENT TRIPLES FINALS. A lovely warm morning saw 8 teams play the quarter final games on a green that was looking and running well, unfortunately our Stotfold Ladies ( Margaret, June & Debbie) lost their game. The semi finals followed after a light lunch and refreshments with both games played competitively as the sun shone and the temperature rose and the green dried, quickened and got more tricky.

The final was Potton Ladies v's Barton Ladies with the Potton trio the eventual winners and taking the trophy for the 2nd year running.

Special thanks to Jim Nicholl, Alan Offord, Musso Everitt and Terry Blyth for preparing the green and setting up the rinks on the morning, also a huge thank you to Wendy Nicholl and Elaine Blyth who prepared all the rolls, cups of tea & cakes for the players and helpers.

The representatives from Bedfordshire County Ladies who attended were very impressed with how well Stotfold organised the event, let's hope we can give support to the County and hold many more competitions in the future.

With the support and hard work of many dedicated club members Stotfold has now been recognised as a club worthy of holding County Competitions a great achievement, well done and thank you to all of those involved.

A raffle was held which raised over £100 to go to Diabetes UK.

A great day was had by all and many thanks to Alan Offord and Margaret Cahill for organising the Gala and to everyone else who helped to make this a successful day.

M.DEAR CUP v's Baldock - Sunday 6th August.

A home fixture for this special game which saw Captain of the day Mike Beedle welcome the Baldock players. 4 Triples battled it out in a friendly but competitive game which saw 2 rinks win and 2 loose so the final scores had to be added up which gave Baldock the victory and the honour of taking away the magnificent Maurice Dear Cup which was presented to Baldock's Captain Malcolm Ingram by Maurice's daughter Karena Harvey. We hope Baldock look after the Cup as we plan to win it back next year.

Stotfold's top winning rink was Carol Hanlon, Mike Beedle, Jim Nicholl.

Final Scores Stotfold 62 Baldock 79.

With all 24 available entries taken for this year's gala it looks like it's going to be a very busy day. Please, please, please can we have more support and help from all club members. Help is needed to set up for the day ( the green and the clubhouse), to serve teas, to clear tables to wash up and tidy up after the event. Cakes and raffle prizes are required. Any help will be appreciated morning or afternoon. The gala day is a great source of income for the club and it shouldn't be left to a handful of members to run and organise so please SUPPORT YOUR CLUB NOW.

PLANT SALE SUCCESS

Many thanks to everyone who came and supported the plant stall over the weekend of 27th & 28th May.

We are pleased to say over £150 was made!!! A very big Thank You to Keith Isted and Carol Parmenter, Frank and Marion Amos and Delia and Mick Lunnon , who grew and supplied a variety of flowers and veg plants, without whom the stall would not be possible.

With the money raised, we plan to buy compost, summer bedding plants to keep the containers looking nice, replace some shrubs that did not make it through the winter and to fund autumn bulbs for a lovely spring display next year.

Other plans for the garden include planting some flowering climbers along the back fence, consider building and implementing a compost bin and the recycling of plastic plant pots and constructing a bug hotel.

We welcome any suggestions or ideas for the garden and if anyone is interested in helping the current gardening team to maintain and keep the gardens looking good, all help would be appreciated. Also, if anyone has any gardening tools they no longer need or a wheelbarrow they would like to donate, that would be great.

Thanks very much.

Viv and Mandy.

He devoted several good years of service to our Club and he will be sorely missed. He was a kind happy gentleman and a "one off."
